Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike razed a hotel for flouting lockdown order (Photos)


Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has carried out the threat he gave of flattening the Prodest Hotel at Alode in Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

Wike had marked the hotel and one other, Etemeteh Hotel, Onne for pulling down, for allegedly violating his government’s order on the closure of hotels in the state.

Well, a lot of citizens of the Rivers state however thought it was just a threat to make other hoteliers to respect themselves, but were certainly taken by surprise when a demolition truck at about 11:30am on Sunday morning arrived at the location of Prodest Hotel.



Meanwhile, as seen in pictures below, which are currently going viral on the social media, the demolition men were accompanied by Governor Wike himself and, some officials of the Rivers State task force, and the building was eventually pull down.

The Governor had earlier declared a total lockdown in 2 major cities in the state which include; Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas, in his effort to curtail the unfold of the novel virus in Rivers state.

He also closed Interstate borders, markets, pubs, restaurants and hotels.

Thus, the hotel demolition has sparked a stir on the social media too as some individuals feel that the governor’s action was too mean, stating that he could have fined the hotel, while some individuals are unnecessarily bothered with the governor’s action.
