The autopsy report of George Floyd’s death in Minnesota is reportedly out.
George Floyd, an unarmed black American man was murdered on May 25, 2020, by a White police officer in Minneapolis.
However, the police man who was captured in a video going viral, kneeling on Floyd’s neck has been charged with man slaughter and 3rd-degree murder, which many protecters and blacks all over the world believe are not severe enough for the crime committed.
Following the killing of Floyd, many cities across United States, have seen in a protest, violent demonstrations, mostly of the black race over police brutality with several US states activating National Guard troops.
These protesters are demanding justice to the dead of Floyd, an end to police brutality and racism, which has gathered the support of eminent figures in the world.
However, during a brief conference on Monday, 1st June, 2020, 2 doctors who were hired by Floyd’s family to conduct an independent autopsy on his body revealed his death a homicide.
They disclosed that the deceased died from asphyxiation (lack of oxygen) after the police man, Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes.
While, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in its own reports revealed that Floyd passed away as a result of “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression,” which is subjected his death to heart disease.
However, the report showed that Floyd “experienced a cardiopulmonary arrest while being restrained by law enforcement officer(s).”
It also listed “arteriosclerotic, hypertensive heart disease and intoxication of fentanyl and recent methamphetamine use as “other significant conditions.”
