The founder and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos has revealed that he’s happy to lose some racist customers who are against his support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement across the world.
Recalled that the American internet entrepreneur had declared his support for the #BlackLivesMatter campaign and also made a donation of $10 million to the outlets advocating for racial justice in US and beyond, following the murder of George Floyd on 25th May, 2020 by white police officers in Minneapolis.
On sharing screenshots of some of the mails he received from resentful Amazon customers via his verified Instagram page, he bade them farewell.
One of the emails sent to him was from a man identified as Dave, which says that he has lost his patronage after he uncovered a banner on Amazon.com that says Amazon is in full support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Dave also stated that he has cancelled his order after seeing the pro Black Lives Matter message on the site.
In a swift response to the Dave, the Amazon president said the following;
"There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post. This sort of hate shouldn’t be allowed to hide in the shadows. It’s important to make it visible. This is just one example of the problem. And, Dave, you’re the kind of customer I’m happy to lose."
Well, this is coming days after Jeff shared an email exchange between himself and another aggrieved customer who told him "All Lives Matter."
Then, in reaction to the email he received from the said customer, he wrote;
“I have to disagree with you.l. ‘Black Lives Matter’ doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter. Black lives matter speaks to racism and the disproportionate risk that Black people face in our law enforcement and justice system.”
