#JusticeforUwa: Suspect linked to rape, killing of late Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa apprehended

Edo State Police Command has apprehended one of the suspects linked to the rape and killing of late Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa.

DICKSON BLOG reported earlier that the 22-year-old 100-level student of the UNIBEN, was beaten, raped and murdered by anonymous individuals while reading in Redeemed church in Benin city.

However, on the confirmation of the arrest, Chidi Nwabuzor, the Edom State police command spokesman, told journalists that the suspect was nabbed after the fingerprint on the fire extinguisher she was hit with was examined.

The spokesman stated that operatives of the command apprehended the suspect after the Area Commander of Ikpoba Hill deployed his men to take action.

Nwabuzor said;

“The item used in the assault, which was a fire extinguisher, was recovered, immediately the operatives who were with some specialists screened the finger prints which led to our suspect.

“Around the place of the incident, the suspect was arrested,”

Meanwhile, the demise of Uwa has raised concerns and stirred reactions from Nigerians on the social media as well as prominent figures.

IGP Adamu, the Inspector general of Police, revealed that investigative aids have been mobilized in Edo state to help speed up the investigations.

The IGP guarantee that the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to book in the shortest possible time.
