One Mrs. Roseline Nwokocha, her sister, Chioma, alongside some other women have been nabbed at Rumuokuta junction in Port Harcourt, Rivers State after they attempted to buy a newborn baby.
Well, in Mrs. Roseline’s confession statement, she revealed that this is not her first time. She added that the last time she came to Port Harcourt to buy a baby, her sister Chioma accompanied her because she was ill.
The previous baby she purchased cost her N1.1 million. But the baby she was arrested trying to buy was to be sold at N1 million and she said she planned to give the child to the buyers at N1.1 million Naira.
She was arrested with the N1.1 million cash, and disclosed that it was the buyers who gave her the money as she left Umuahia for Port Harcourt.
Then, when questioned who she planned to pay the money to, she pointed at another woman in the group named Chi Chi. Chi Chi was questioned, who she planned to get the baby from and she pointed to another woman identified as Aunty Ify.
Chi Chi stated that Aunty Ify approached her that she had a baby for sale at N950k, so she topped her gain of N50k and sold to Mrs Nwokocha at N1 million. She added that once Mrs Roseline’s money is handed to her, she will hand Aunty Ify’s share to her and Ify will then bring the child.
Then, Aunty Ify was asked where she got the baby she wanted to sell from and she revealed that she has no idea. She disclosed that someone called her that they had a baby to sell so she set the wheels in motion.
Mr. Roseline was asked what happened to the baby she bought 14 days ago and she stated that the baby is in Aba with a couple. She was then asked for the couple’s name but she couldn’t provide an answer.
Furthermore, she was also asked what she planned to do with the baby she came to buy before she was apprehended and she revealed that a couple from Umuahia were to adopt the child. She also added that she couldn’t remember the Umuahia couple’s name.
Meanwhile, the 5th woman in the group was identified as the mother of the previous child, Mrs Roseline purchased.
