American rapper Kanye West announces he is running for US president

Popular American rapper Kanye West, a vocal supporter of the present U.S President Donald Trump, has announced that he will be running for president in 2020, raising bewildered reactions to his move to challenge Trump and the presumptive Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.

He wrote;

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” West wrote in a social media post late on Saturday (01:00 GMT Sunday), adding an American flag emoji and the hashtag “#2020VISION”.

Tesla Motors owner, Elon Musk, then co-signed Kanye saying that Kanye has his full support.

It was not immediately clear if Kanye was serious about vying for the presidency 4 months before the November 3 election, or if he had filed any official paperwork to appear on state election ballots.

Thus, the deadline to add independent candidates to the ballot has not yet passed in most of the states.

It should be recalled that back in 2015, Kanye announced at the MTV VMA’s that he was planning to run for President in 2020. Well, a lot has happened in those past 5 years, but it looks like Kanye has not forgotten his promise.
