Coronavirus: Police arrest 4 COVID-19 patients who ran away from isolation center


On Thursday, 9th July, 2020, the Rwandan police command apprehended 4 individuals who had escaped from a COVID-19 treatment center in Eastern province.

In a statement by the Ngoma district police, stated that the COVID-19 patients who were receiving treatment at the center set up at one high school in Ngoma district ran away on Wednesday evening, July 8th, after breaking iron window bars.

As stated by the statement, it took the efforts of Security agencies and local leaders to know their whereabouts and nab them following a tip-off from individuals who saw them.

The statement also revealed that the Security men and medics are tracing their likely contacts, such as their families.

Thus, the police officers, advised those who could have had contact with the four of them to step forward for tests and due treatment to prevent the spread of the dreadful disease.

Meanwhile, NAN reports that Rwanda on Thursday recorded 16 new cases with 13 recoveries, making it the total confirmed cases to 1,210 and total recoveries to 623 in the country.


Well Rwanda so far has confirmed 3 deaths from the pandemic disease.
