“21.7 million Nigerians are currently jobless” - National Bureau of Statistics

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reveals that 21.7 million Nigerians are currently jobless.

As revealed by its Labor Force Statistics report released on Monday, the number of jobless Nigerians went from 20.93 in 2018 to 21.76 million in the second quarter of 2020.

Nevertheless, this implies that more than 17 million Nigerians have been jobless since December 2014, while the total working age population has grown by nearly the same number in those 6 years.

Well, for the first time in the history of the revised NBS unemployment reports, the number of individuals in the labor force willing to work dropped.

Meanwhile, there are currently at least 10 million individuals in the labor force reluctant to work, as indicated by NBS.
