One US couple with 14 children, including naturally conceived quintuplets, triplets and twins, has talked about life as a large family and what it takes to run their home.
Karen and Deon Derrico, who live in Las Vegas, have 4 sets of naturally conceived multiples. They have twins, two sets of triplets, and a set of quintuplets. They also have 2 single kids.
Nevertheless, the couple are parents to Darian, 13; Erek, 8; twins Dallas and Denver, 7; quintuplets Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daician and Daiten, 5; and two sets of triplets.
Well, the family’s life was documented in a news TLC series called Doubling Down with the Derricos. The series started airing on 11th August, 2020.
Shooting for the show started in 2019 when they had 11 children and as at that time, Karen was pregnant with triplets. The triplets have been conceived, making them 14 children.
However, in the series, Karen disclosed that she spends $3,500 monthly on the food shop and completes 18 loads of laundry every week. They likewise use 20 rolls of toilet paper and 15 packets of waffles every week.
Karen, a stay-at-home mother, revealed that her husband spends a fortune to everybody very much took care of.
“In a week we go through 15 boxes of waffles, 20 rolls of toilet paper,” adds Deon, 49.
“Eighteen loads of clothes a week,”
She includes: “I am a stay-at-home mother and my phenomenal, handsome husband over here is a real estate investor.
“We chose to have a large family. We also chose to make sure we could provide for our large family.”
The couple have multiples on two sides sides of their family, yet Deon says theirs is more: “We have the most multiples that anyone has ever heard of”.
Karen said: “All of our children were naturally conceived. Not one round of IVF.
Deon includes: “Having four sets of multiples back to back? It’s like getting struck by lightning while getting struck by lightning.
“Many parents know with just one child, two children, it’s a job. But when you have soon-to-be 14, it’s a job.”
Deon and Karen admit they have their “good days and bad days”, but reveals there's in every case enough love to go round.
They disclosed that they had to find discover inventive approaches to keep their children occupied with during the pandemic.
Karen said;
“So we do scavenger hunts and we do learning games and things like that and we do a talent show.”
Deon said;
“And we wrestle a lot. Boys against the girls, the older ones against the younger ones.”
