The Nigerian Army has denied rumour of the recently-launched Crocodile Smile VI having anything to do with the progressing ENDSARS peaceful protests across the nation.
Col. Sagir Musa, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, made this clarification in a statement on Sunday, 18th October, 2020, in Abuja.
The director maintained that the activity is a yearly program in guaranteeing the safety of citizens.
In his words...
“It is a yearly exercise in the Army Calendar/Forecast of Events which traditionally holds from October to December of each year.”
As per Musa, this year’s exercise is scheduled to start from Oct. 20 - Dec. 31, and it has no relationship with any legal protest under any guise whatsoever.
He cautioned “to now insinuate that it is an exercise meant to stifle the ongoing ENDSARS protest is sheer misinformation.
“So far, the army has acted professionally since the civil protest started over two weeks ago.
“The army hereby enjoins all law-abiding Nigerians to go about their lawful activities unhindered.”
