Famous Nollywood actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot, has been hurled out via social media by a few Nigerians who have alleged he is uphelding an anti-social media bill in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Many tweets culled when Desmond Elliot trended today,26th October, 2020, via Twitter, recommend that the Lagos State House of Assembly is purportedly working on a bill to regulate and control speech on social media.
They proceeded to declare assert that the said social media bill is pointes towards at enabling Lagos state to easily nab youths who might keep tweeting about the Lekki Tollgate occurrence after it may have been passed and enacted.
Their grievances are hinged on their belief that Desmond Elliot ought to be on the side of the youths in that he is also a youth.

@HelloMike01 tweeted, “A bill to regulate Social Media Post is being pushed by Desmond Elliot. I thought he was one of us. I thought he was for the people. What did we do to deserve this in this country?”

So the plan is to deny the Lekki Massacre and then start arresting anyone who tweets about it? What is wrong with us?”
Meanwhile, Desmond Elliot contested for the Lagos State House of Assembly in September 2014 under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and won. Having finished his 1st tenure as member representing Surulere Constituency, he contested again under same party and retained his position till date.
