The Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has granted state pardon to the popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello alias JJC skills.
It could be recalled that they were prior convicted for violating the state’s COVID-19 orders.
Well, the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, broke the news in a statement on Friday, 9th October, 2020.
As per Onigbanjo, the governor’s action was depended on proposals of the state advisory board on prerogative of mercy, under the powers conferred on the governor by section 212 (1) & (2) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) as amended.
A magistrate court had in April condemned the couple to 14-day community service each after they pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them.
The thespian and mother of 2 and her husband were nabbed for holding a house party to mark her hubby’s birthday.
The couple were said to have flouted the social distancing orders put in set up at that time to curtail the spread of the novel virus.
Their state pardon additionally comes at about the similar time when Sanwo-Olu granted the release of 56 inmates from different correctional centres within the state.
