Bayern Munich hitman, Robert Lewandowski equaled the UEFA Champions league goal scoring record of former Real Madrid legendary striker, Raul Gonzalez.
The goal which is the Polish striker’s 71st in the competition came in the 43rd minute of the encounter against RB Salzburg at the Allianz Arena.
Only Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo (131) and Barcelona legend, Lionel Messi (118) have more goals in the tournament than the Polish striker who currently sits joint third with Raul.
Bayern Munich went on to beat the Austrian side by 3-1 courtesy of two other goals by Kingsley Coman in the 52nd minute and Leroy Sane in the 68th before Mergim Berisha pulled one back for the away team.
The victory ensured qualification for Bayern who also earned their 15th straight Champions League victory.
In other results, Atletico Madrid’s poor goal scoring form continued as they drew goalless at home with Russian side, Lokomotiv Moscow.
Former Champions, Liverpool were humbled 2-0 at home by visiting Serie A side, Atalanta in a group D encounter.
