Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir players walked off their Champions League match following an alleged racist slur by the 4th official, resulting in suspension of the game.
Initially, play was halted after a row initiated in the 14th minute when Basaksehir’s assistant coach, Pierre Webo, was sent off.
Then a video footage emerged which appeared to capture Pierre Webo, a former Cameroon international, accusing the 4th official Sebastian Coltescu of using racist language.
Basaksehir substitute Demba Ba could be seen protesting on the touchline, while PSG players including Kylian Mbappe and Neymar also appeared to be demanding an explanation.
Istanbul players then walked off the pitch in the 23rd minute in protest, with PSG players following.
UEFA initially stated that the match would restart with a different 4th official “after consultation with both teams”.
But Basaksehir reportedly refused to resume the game with the 4th official continuing to participate as a VAR official.
