The US President, Donald Trump has taken to his official Twitter page, to urge supporters who breached Capitol building, halting vote certification to “stay peaceful”
The inversion of the capitol building is coming days to the swearing in if president elect, Joe Biden and is viewed a bid by aggrieved Republican supporters to overturn the outcome of the 2020 US presidential election.
The storming of the the U.S. Capitol building and violently clashed with police is also viewed as an attempt to stop Joe Biden’s certification.
Vice President Pence, who was in the Capitol when the building was breached, in a tweet called for an end to violence urging people to respect law enforcement and leave the building.
“The violence and destruction taking place at the US Capitol Must Stop and it Must Stop Now. Anyone involved must respect Law Enforcement officers and immediately leave the building.”
“Peaceful protest is the right of every American but this attack on our Capitol will not be tolerated and those involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
