Have you ever been deceived by MOONLIGHT?
4 years after my dad passed on I was still struggling to cope with the negative turnaround of life and I was struggling to make sure I have at least SSCE but I knew the road to achieving that is going to be a tough one. So, every midterm break, I'd join my uncle in 'Aviele, Edo state to help him with farm work: sell some food items to get some money.
I wasn't the only one who do those things to raise money as some young girls/boys do come over to that rural area, we would join hands in picking the remainder of harvested yam and go to the Egono market to sell. It is usually every five days. We do wake up as early as 4:30 am on every market day to start trekking from 'Aviele to Egono market. The distance is terrible ( Edo people would understand this part ๐).
So, on one of those days when we would gather to start trekking and gisting together to aid our journey, I was deceived by MOONLIGHT.
I woke up and I saw that everywhere was quiet and bright as if it's already 6 am and no single soul was outside. So, I felt that I woke up late. It didn't even occur to me to check on the people I usually go with, my village people just whispered to me to carry my portion and start going.
I trekked.
My dears, I trekked. I was even running-trekking because I thought I'd meet the rest along the road but 'samsam' I didn't see anybody till I got to the market.
I got there and there's no one, even the mosque there was locked. I was just wondering.
I sat down somewhere around the mosque and after some time, the ladan ( one who calls prayer) came to meet me as asked if I slept in the market.
"No, sir" I answered.
"This is just 4:15 am, what are you doing here by this time?" he asked.
That was when I realized that I was deceived by moonlight and had left the house probably at 2 am๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ.
The man had pity on me, took my yam and gave me money.
It wasn't funny but whenever I talk about it with my family, we'd all laugh because it's become a testimony๐๐๐.
