Nigerian man begs for forgiveness after losing N1.2m bet he placed on Donald Trump to be confirmed as United States President

One Nigerian man identified as James Orokpo has lost an expensive bet he placed on Donald Trump to be confirmed as the United States President and he is apologetic about it due to his inability to pay up.

A man on Twitter with a username @CChukudebelu had taken to the platform on December 15, 2020, to state that he is ready to bet N1 million that Joe Biden will be confirmed as the United States President by Congress on January 6.

“Okay, how much are you willing to bet? You give me N250,000 if Biden is confirmed on January 6. I’ll give you N1,000,000 if Trump is confirmed as victor”, he had written.

Nevertheless, James Orokpo who was of a contrary view, upped the stakes made a bet of N1.2 million that Donald Trump instead, would be the one to be confirmed.

The man hinted that if Joe Biden was confirmed, he would give CChukudebelu N1.2m, but if Trump is the one that gets confirmed, he (Orokpo) would get N1m.

Orokpo wrote; ‘‘Serious?? Can we go for the bet?

If Trump wins on the 6th, January 2021. You give me the 1million, If he looses I give you 1.2million.”

Fast forward to January 6, not minding the initial setback caused by the serious attack on the United States Capitol building, Joe Biden got confirmation and this meant that Orokpo lost the bet.

CChukudebelu then messaged him as a reminder of the bet, and he asked for bank details via DM.

He tweeted; ‘‘You owe me N1.2 million. Will you be a gentleman, and honour your word, or were you merely bluffing?”

Orokpo replied; ‘‘Dear @cchukudebelu, Kindly forward your account details. This is to enable me do as promised.”

Nevertheless, moments later, he came back on the TL to apologise and state that he is unable to pay the money, and then apologised.

He wrote...

”Dear @cchukudebelu…

Please, accept my sincere apology for being unable to attend to the 1.2million naira I promised. I never knew you accepted the offer.

I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. I have deleted the tweet disputing your alignment. I have equally deleted your account details from my cell phone. One love bro.”
