14th Edition Of The Headies Award Holds Today, Sunday, February 21, 2020.


The 2020 edition of The Headies, a Nigerian music awards show held to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry will hold on Sunday, February 21, 2020.

The ceremony which usually takes place in December of every year was postponed to February 2021 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers of the event announced that comedian, Bovi and actress, Nancy Isime will be the show hosts.
 
This will be Bovi’s fourth time as a host of the event while Nancy becomes the second female to host the show twice.

With nine nominations, Fire Boy tops the list of nominees that were announced on 4 December 2020 while Davido and Wurld followed with seven nominations each. The reigning artiste of the year, Burna Boy secured six nominations.

This year’s award will rewards works released between July 2019 and September 2020 and shall see the inclusion of a new category named the Songwriter of the Year.

Rapper and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem and ace musician, Timaya will receive special awards for their impac on the music industry.

High life legend, King Sunny Ade will be inducted into the Headies Hall of Fame.

The event will be held virtually due to COVID-19.
