JUST IN: IGP Mohammed Adamu Hands Over To Most Senior Officer


The outgoing Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has reportedly handed over unofficially to DIG Sanusi Lemu.

Sanusi Lemu is currently the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Operations and the most senior police officer.

As per reports, Adamu attained the statutory retirement age on Monday, February 1, 2021.

A report by The Punch reveals that Adamu asked Lemu to oversee the administration of the Nigeria Police Force pending the appointment of a new IG by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lemu took over as the DIG Operations November 2020 following the retirement of DIG Abdulmajid Ali.

The Niger state-born officer was a former AIG in-charge of Zonal Headquarters (Zone-12), Bauchi

President Buhari is expected to make an official announcement on the new police chief in the coming days.
