Nigerian-American economist and international development expert, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala resumes office today, 1st March, 2021, as the first African and first woman to become the WTO Director-General.
The 66-year-old economist made history on the February, 15th, when the General Council agreed by consensus to select Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria as the organization’s 7th Director-General.
Well, in her first appearance to work at the World Trade Organisation, she rocked a native Ankara outfit as always in her well-styled head tie ‘gele’ and a handbag. She made quite an entrance as she poses for press-photographers.
Well, her term in office will expire on 31st August, 2025. The position, nonetheless, is renewable for another 4-years.
