Rep Demands Pantami’s Resignation, Speaker Gbajabiamila Blocks Motion

The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, on Wednesday, asked the House to demand resignation or sack of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, for once supporting activities of Jihadists.

Dickson101.com reports that the Minister has been under fire for supporting Jihadists and deadly Islamic sects.

Some Nigerians have taken to various social media platforms to demand the resignation of Pantami who has since renounced the views on the ground that he was younger then.

Elumelu, at the plenary on Wednesday, raised a point of order to demand that the House acts on the issue by demanding the minister’s resignation.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, however, overruled the Minority Leader, noting that Elumelu came under the matter and the matter being raised had nothing to do with his privilege as a lawmaker.

Reacting, the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila overruled Elumelu, noting that the matter being raised had nothing to do with the Minority Leader’s privilege as a lawmaker.

“Your point of order is noted,” the Speaker said.
