”Don’t delete our app” - Twitter Appeals with Nigerians

Following the indefinite ban of the micro-blogging platform Twitter in Nigeria by the Nigeria Federal Government, Twitter has appealed with Nigerians to keep the app on as they are working to restore access to the platform.

The Federal Government banned twitter following accusations by the President that the use of the platform is capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

Reacting to the ban which took effect mostly on Saturday, 5th June, 2021, Twitter says it is concerned about the development as they believe their business is protected by the human right law that allows freedom of speech.

In a tweet through Twitter’s public policy handle on Saturday, it says; “We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society

“We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world. #KeepitOn”
