UKWA WEST, IKWUANO AND UMUAHIA NORTH LGAs TO GO ON TOTAL LOCKDOWN FROM TOMORROW.
"From midnight of Sunday 26th April 2020, the entire Ukwa West, Ikwuano and Umuahia North LGAs will go on total lockdown for the next SEVEN DAYS to enable our epidemiologists conclude their contact tracing. The respective TC Chairmen will be held responsible for lapses for lapses, if they occur.
Abians cannot allow the ineptitude or carelessness of a few to put our collective well-being in jeopardy".
THREATENS TO FIRE UKWA WEST LGA TC CHAIRMAN OVER COVID 19
"In view of the circumstances of our index cases, we are doing extensive contact tracing, which is taking our epidemiologists to the three Local Government Areas of Ukwa West, Ikwuano and Umuahia North. Presently about 207 contacts have been established and we are still counting.
Unfortunately, our medics are experiencing some problems in some communities, especially UMUORIE in UKWA WEST LGA. Therefore the TC Chairman of Ukwa West and the relevant Traditional Ruler MUST yield unfettered access and cooperation to the medical team OR RISK IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION!
ABIA RECEIVES 1800 BAGS OF RICE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
"I have been informed that the Federal Government has delivered 1800 bags of Rice to us. We are grateful to the Federal Government. We shall examine the wholesomeness of these supplies and brief Ndi Abia on the pattern of distribution".
"I hereby direct the Secretary to Government to expand the Committee on Palliatives and include the Christian Association of Nigeria, Traditional Rulers, Civil Society Organizations, Women Journalists, Presidents General of Town Unions and Development Associations. This Committee shall embark on the distribution of further palliatives from Community to Community, starting from next week. Association of Ndi Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra indigenes will also be reached. In addition too, we shall make provisions for other groups like artisans, mechanics, Keke and Bus drivers during the next phase".
"I am informed that the NCDC has sent us a number of face masks. While we are grateful to the Federal Government, we make bold to state that in Abia, we are self sufficient in the production of face masks and as such, we do not need any imported face masks and PPE in Abia State".
