Mentally impaired man arrested for killing his father in Anambra state (Photo)


Chigorom Ezeofor, 37 years old, a mentally challenged man, has been arrested by some officers of the Anambra state police command for allegedly killing his father in Unuchiana village, Aguata Local Govt Area of the state, on the April 25, 2020.

However, Haruna Mohammed, the Police spokesperson, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that at about 9am, on Saturday, the officers of the Aguata police station received a report from one Timothy Ezeofor that his 70-year-old elder brother named Godwin Ezeofor has been allegedly killed by his 37 year old son, Chigorom Ezeofor using an Axe. 



He added that the suspect has been mentally ill for the past 8 years.

Meanwhile, according to the report, officers attached to Aguata Division-led by the DPO CSP Ayeni Oluwadare mustered to the scene, took photographs of the victim and rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor and the corpse set down at the Hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.

In addition, the police spokesperson also stated that axe was recovered and the suspect who “looked insane” was nabbed and taken to the station for discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
