The Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Professor Anthony Ugochukwu have passed on.
As stated by the reports, Professor Anthony was confirmed dead at a private hospital in Enugu state on Friday night, April 3rd.
However, the family of the late Commissioner, formally announced his death in a statement signed on behalf of the family by Dr. Kingsley C. Ugochukwu. It stated that the late Commissioner’s cause of death was a “prolonged but valiant battle with chronic kidney disease.”
According to the statement, late Prof. Ugochukwu “was until his death a Consultant Surgeon, Professor of Medicine, serving Commissioner for Health, Enugu State and immediate past Provost of ESUT College of Medicine, Enugu State”.
On confirming the demise of the commissioner by the Lawmaker representing Oji River state constituency in the Enugu House of Assembly, Jeff Mbah,
Mbah wrote;
“He is a great loss to both Enugu state and Nigeria.”
“We are talking about a renownedprofessor of surgery who has a lot to offer in turning around out health sector. Its a terrible blow.”
