Ex-EFCC Chairman, Magu Released After 10 Days of Police Custody

The suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has been released from detention after 10 days in police custody

As it was gathered, that the suspended EFCC boss was released on Wednesday, 15th July, 2020.

Well, it should be recalled that the ex-EFCC boss was nabbed last week Monday, July 6, 2020, by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS).

And, he has been appearing before the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel investigating allegations of corruption and insubordination leveled against him by the justice minister, Abubakar Malami.

Meanwhile, reports also had it that he was probed over 380 houses, 7 crude oil-laden ships, N37billion assets.

Well, earlier on yesterday, the Nigeria Police Force denied that they are detaining him.

However, in a letter signed by DCP Idowu Owohunwa, Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu and addressed to Magu’s counsel, Tosin Ojaomo, the Nigerian police authorities made it clear that the suspended EFCC acting Chairman was being “held” by the Presidency and not them.

Meanwhile, the details of his bail are still sketchy, but he has returned to his Abuja residence.
