An upper Sharia court in the Hausawa Filin Hockey area of the Kano state has revealed that 22-year-old, Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, was guilty of committing blasphemy for a song he circulated through WhatsApp in March.

Yeh 22-year-old singer didn't deny the charges.

Judge Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani stated that he could appeal against the verdict. He however gave the guilty verdict on Monday, August 10, 2020.

The vocalist who is right now in confinement, had sought total hiding after he composed the song.

Nevertheless, many protesters had burnt down his family home and assembled outside the headquarters of the Islamic police, alias the Hisbah, requesting action against him.
