Jurgen Klopp not underestimating Manchester United despite nervy Champions League victory

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has revealed that his team will not be complacent when they face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, 24th October, 2021.

Manchester United went 2 goals behind against Atalanta in the first half after being outplayed by the Italian side for 45 minutes.

Nonetheless, an improved second half display saw the Red Devils come from behind to beat Atalanta 3-2 courtesy of goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Klopp has now confuted claims that The Reds will be looking to exploit United’s first half frailties when the rivals face off this weekend.

“I was watching the game and there was not one second where I was rubbing my hands together.

“Even in the first half, United had three clear cut chances. [The] second half was a demonstration of United going for it which can cause problems,” Klopp said on Friday.

Liverpool have maintained a good away record so far this campaign, scoring at least three goals per game but Klopp made light of the statistics.

“It helps but we’re not just relying on our goal-scoring skills,” he said.

“It’s more a coincidence we’ve scored that often, in a row it’s quite strange we’ve done that. It’s perfectly fine to win 1-0 and keep a clean sheet.”

The match will see two big players face each other as Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo will attempt to come big for their teams.

When asked about what he made of the individual battle, the Liverpool coach preferred to focus on securing victory.

“Why should we compare? Both are world-class. I would say Mo’s left foot is better, Cristiano may be better in the air and with his right foot.

Speed-wise, both are quick and desperate to score goals but I’m not too interested in comparing, sorry.”
