The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office has nabbed 5 alleged internet fraudsters.
And the included popular social media influencer, Adedamola Adewale, better known as ‘Adeherself’ on Instagram.
A statement by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesman, stated that the suspects were arresteded in different areas of Lagos state during a raid by its officers.
While the 20-year-old Adewale together with Lamina Hamzat Ajibola, were nabbed at the Agungi area of Lekki, the trio of Emmanuel Olayode , Valentine Nwokorie and Israel Onyebuchi, were captured at Ibeju-Lekki.
The spokesman stated that the arrest of Adewale and Ajibola “was sequel to intelligence linking them to online fraudulent activities with two brothers, Lasisi Wasiu Adeleke and Lasisi Riliwan Adeniyi, who are at large.”
He said that they were nabbed at a four-bedroom duplex belonging to the 2 run-away fraudsters.
The statement revealed that during interrogation, “Adewale, a self-acclaimed model, who goes by the username @adeherself on Instagram, confessed to being a picker” in cybercrimes.”
Stuffs that were recovered from the suspects included 2 Toyota Camry 2009 model cars, and an amount of N9 million found in Adewale’s bank account.
While, the other suspects Nwokorie, Olayode and Onyebuchi, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in a romance scam.
They were all nabbed during another raid, following a separate intelligence.
EFCC disclosed “Nwokorie was posing as a female American citizen and sending photos as a porn star to defraud his victim while Onyebuchi was engaging in a love scam as well as forging foreign cheques.”
It should be recalled that 3 weeks ago, Teni gifted Adeherself’s mom 100k after she expressed love for her.
